POW/MIA Flag

On Monday, December 16th, Brandywine Heights Area School District gathered for a special POW/MIA Flag Donation Ceremony at the Intermediate/Middle School. It was a morning filled with reflection, gratitude, and quiet reverence, as the District honored those who sacrificed everything in service to our country.

The event, featured thoughtful remarks from Superintendent Andrew Potteiger, Representative Maloney, and a member of Berks County Chapter 131 Vietnam Veterans. Each speaker offered a unique perspective on the importance of remembering and honoring the men and women who never made it home.

High school senior Greta Kline delivered a moving performance of the National Anthem, setting a respectful tone for what became the ceremonies' defining moment: the flag-raising ceremony led by middle school students. As the POW/MIA flag climbed higher, it became more than just a symbol—it became a visible pledge to never forget.

Following the ceremony, attendees gathered in the Intermediate/Middle School lobby for light refreshments and conversation. The atmosphere was one of quiet reflection, but also of unity—proof that honoring the past can bring people together in the present.

Now standing tall at the school, the newly raised POW/MIA flag is more than fabric waving in the wind—it’s a powerful reminder stitched with meaning. It serves as both a tribute to the courage and resilience of those who served and a lasting promise to keep their memory alive.
