Students with jackets

At Brandywine Heights Area School District, we’re cultivating something special. Our new agricultural program is already creating meaningful opportunities for students, and we’re thrilled to share that it just got a major boost with over $32,000 in grants from the Pennsylvania Farm Bill’s Agriculture & Youth Grant Program!

This funding is helping us take our program to the next level. With $25,000 awarded for greenhouse expansion, our students will have more hands-on opportunities to learn about sustainability and advanced agricultural techniques. Another $7,500 will support our Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter’s focus on veterinary science, opening doors for students interested in animal care and related careers.

Celebrating Milestones

Our FFA chapter has had an exciting year. At the Pennsylvania FFA Mid-Winter Convention on January 6, Brandywine Heights students celebrated two major achievements:

  • 28 Official FFA Jackets: These jackets, generously sponsored by our incredible community members, are a proud symbol of FFA membership and the hard work of our students.

  • Official FFA Charter: Brandywine Heights FFA is officially recognized as one of six new chapters in Pennsylvania this year.

Even though our agricultural program is new, it’s already building momentum. Students are diving into hands-on projects, exploring career pathways, and developing leadership skills that will serve them for a lifetime.

A Community Effort

This program may be in its first year, but it’s already making an incredible impact. These grants are giving our students the tools and experiences they need to thrive. We’re so thankful to the Shapiro Administration and our community for believing in this program and supporting its growth.

None of this would be possible without the support of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, the Shapiro Administration, and our community sponsors. Their investment in our students’ futures is planting the seeds for a brighter tomorrow.

What’s Next?

As we continue to expand our agricultural program, we’re excited to see how our students will grow—both in the classroom and in their communities. From sustainable agriculture to veterinary science, the possibilities are endless.

Stay tuned for more updates from Brandywine Heights Area School District. Together, we’re growing something extraordinary!
