Mrs. Moore’s Introduction to Business classes hosted a Food Truck Festival today in the HS Wrestling Room. Students were tasked with developing a business plan from start to finish for a food truck and immersing themselves in becoming a business owner. They chose a target food audience and created their Food Truck name, business logo, and designed an inviting menu. For the menu, business owners were required to create a minimum of five menu items of which they needed to research recipes, prices of ingredients, and calculate costs to include profit. Prior to the Food Truck Festival, each business owner also marketed their food items on Twitter and Instagram to promote the event and their truck. Some food trucks even offered discounts such as a Veterans discount or 15% off for the first week of Spring!
Today, at the food truck festival business owners showcased their foods and students, staff, and teachers were able to ‘purchase’ items. Attendants of the festival were given $100 (monopoly money) to purchase items around the festival. Each business owner was also given an envelope with a set amount of change to be able to provide to customers as necessary. At the end of each class period, students calculated how much money was made in sales at their food truck.
For a preview of options offered at the various food trucks, Miss Worman spent her $100 on the following items:
